Free site inspections by Nature’s Warmth

We offer free site inspections so we can make sure the wood stove you choose fits your fireplace, your needs and your taste.  During a visit we:

1) Inspect your fireplace

We inspect your fireplace to make sure your chimney meets building regulations & safety standards and to check that your hearth can accommodate a woodstove safely.

If your fireplace is bricked up you’ll need to open it before we can  visit.

We provide free no obligation quotes to open up fireplaces.

If you have a gas fire we can still carry out a site survey as long as:

• it’s a basket gas fire - ie stands in the grate and we can get round it to see up the chimney
• it has a removable baffle

If your gas fire has a fixed baffle (this is likely to be a cast iron inset fireplace) you need to disconnect the gas supply using a Gas Safe registered engineer before removing the inset fireplace

We provide free no obligation quotes for removing cast iron inset fireplaces. 

2) Advise if you need a flue liner

If your home has been built before 1965 there’s a 99% chance your flue will need a liner. Flues have to be lined for legal and safety reasons.

3) Test your draw

We need to test your draw because this can affect the efficiency of your wood burner.

The draw is the way the chimney sucks smoke up and out of the house.

4) Inspect your room

We need to inspect your room so we can advise you on:

• what size stoves suit the space you want to heat
• safety issues eg air vents

You need air vents to make sure your stove burns safely. We may need to alter the size of your air vent depending on the heat output of the stove you choose.

If you need an air vent we will factor this into your quote

5) Inspect the roof from the ground

We do this so we can let you know from the start whether we’re going to need extra scaffolding or a cherry picker. We can source cherry pickers for you.

We will provide a separate quote if you need a cherry picker or additional professional scaffolding

How long does a Free Site Survey take?

Our site surveys take around 45 minutes. We aim to visit within 3-7 working days and provide a quote within hours
